Hide prices from technicians
Choose whether your technicians see prices on their jobs, let team leads keep seeing them, and decide who prices parts a technician buys outside.
Some companies do not want field technicians to see what a job costs. Three switches in Account Settings, in the Maintenance Request Permissions section, control what your technicians see in the service-provider app.
Hide prices from technicians
Turn on Hide prices from technicians when technicians should not see amounts.
- On the request screen, the jobs list and notifications, technicians see services and materials with their quantities, without prices or totals. One line under Services tells them your company does not show prices on its jobs.
- When the technician has to collect cash at the end of a visit, they still see the amount to collect.
- Jobs assigned to Nabeeh keep showing their prices.
- Technicians cannot change service prices while this is on, even if their permission allows it.
Note: If Allowing service providers to adjust the prices of services for maintenance requests is also on, an amber warning appears under the switch after you save: that permission is ignored while prices are hidden. Turn one of the two off to make your choice clear.
Show prices to team leads
Turn on Show prices to team leads when your team leads should keep seeing prices on their team's jobs while technicians do not. It has no effect unless prices are hidden.
Parts bought outside
Technicians enter what they paid for bought-outside parts only matters while prices are hidden. It is on for new accounts.
- On: when a technician adds a part they bought outside, they type what they paid next to the receipt. The amount is saved as the part's price and is not shown to them again.
- Off: the technician adds the part and its receipt at 0.00, and the office sets its price later on the maintenance request.
Parts taken from stock are priced from inventory: the item's price, else its cost price, else 0.00 for the office to correct.
Set it up
- Open Account Settings and find Maintenance Request Permissions.
- Turn on Hide prices from technicians.
- Decide on Show prices to team leads and Technicians enter what they paid for bought-outside parts.
- Save, and check for the amber warning about the edit-price permission.
The change applies the next time a technician opens a job.
